Coal was first mined here 800 years ago. Over the centuries salt, glass, pottery and brick were made here. Discover the stories of these industries and the people who worked in them. Enjoy a free tour or take an audio guide. Visit the historic Beam Engine and explore one of the key sites of Scotland's industrial revolution. There is a café and children's corner, as well as outside games. Check the website for info on exhibitions and children's events which are held throughout the season.
