While it's famous as the place to hear many of the best up-and-coming bands, King Tut's is just as adept at feeding and watering the local office population. The basement bar, featuring worn wooden tables around the walls – themselves a gallery of poster art advertising forthcoming gigs – is busy at lunch and dinner with suits and audiophiles of various ages tucking into well-filled baked potatoes, burgers, pastas and Tex-Mex fare such as burritos and crisp-skinned potato wedges. Laden with chilli beef and cheddar, the latter are enough for a light lunch, though you could also opt for a well-balanced warm chicken and bacon caesar salad or a peppery broccoli and parmesan soup. A Spanish burger is given just enough interest by some chorizo and is served with crisp skinny fries and leaf salad in a balsamic dressing. While the fruit pudding may resemble its Christmas cousin it's light and moist, but accompanied by a sinful, sweetened cream. In the evening the menu is shorter and has more things to share, including the 'Weegie Batter Sharer Platter' – featuring fish fingers, cajun wedges, onion rings and garlic bread – which, unsurprisingly, is not listed as a healthy option.
