Dark wood panelling, red brocade banquettes and twinkling candles give a timeless feel to this classic Leith bar and restaurant. The closely-spaced tables and dim lighting can feel either wonderfully romantic or perhaps a little too intimate, depending on your dining companions and neighbouring tables. As part of the Fishers group, the à la carte is predictably strong on seafood, from starters of West Coast oysters (served with horseradish Bloody Mary or baked with garlic butter and parmesan crumb) or Loch Fyne queen scallops, to mains of whole lemon sole with brown shrimp and beurre noisette or perfectly cooked Shetland coley with surf clams and a slightly bland leek, potato and pearl barley stew. Seasonal meat dishes may include herb-stuffed shoulder of lamb with merguez sausage ragoût, corn-fed chicken or pork belly with snail scampi, but vegetarian options are almost non-existent. From Monday to Friday an additional daytime menu offers highlights from the à la carte (including brown onion soup and ham hash cake), a selection of filled baguettes and heartier bar favourites such as steak and kidney pie or sausage and mash.
- High point: Intimate and atmospheric.
- Low point: Very little for vegetarians.

I completely agree with the review above - 5 stars for a wonderful little gem, its small coziness only addsd to its charm, large windows open up to Leith Harbour and an immense mirror opposite allows the whole room to soak up the sunset as you tuck in to the best mussels and fresh seafood around - their specials ensure that people adverse to fish aren't castigated to the salads, wonderful food at a resonable price, lovely staff, what more could you want?

Yes, it is really worth 5 stars! I have been several times now and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere in the cosy restaurant makes a star on it's own. To find table cloths on tales without paying for their laundry is another plus. The food is well presented, and tastes, more importantly, top-notch. Good wine list to choose from and all very well priced. My only comment to the owners is to make sure that ALL waiters use trays to serve or clear glasses on, it would add to the already high service standard. A small point I know. Without gushing on, I recommend you to go and see for yourself. It really has changed into a most welcome delightful little gem of a place. Just GO and enjoy.
