Despite a fairly unremarkable interior and beer selection, Whistlebinkies knows how to draw custom away from the centre of Stirling. Saturday’s lively music sessions are one of the biggest attractions, with the emphasis largely on folk and acoustic, although punk urchins have been known to get a look-in. At other times there’s a more relaxed air to recommend, with affable bar staff, a secluded beer garden and space to stretch out indoors. The reasonably priced pub-grub includes one of the best gluten-free selections around.

george keenan description of the whistlebinkie was correct before august 21 2010. that was when the new owners took over the pub . what a change, it is remarkable the place has had a total refit from top to bottom and according to my wife the ladies toilets are the best she has ever seen. a total deep clean of the kitchen at a cost i am told of £2000 and a very resonable menu with 2 course meal for 7.95 and on tuesday 2 meals and a bottle of wine for £15. all food is freshly prepared and cooked on site. on the entertainment front the quiz is back with prize money of £50 and a running prize which could reach a potential£1000. karaoke on friday night with all the singers names going into a hat every hour and the winner getting a bottle of bubby evey hour! junior open mic every saturday gives the youth of stirling a chance to play live to an audience, not many pubs can say that. saturday night has live local bands playing and many drinks promotions. sunday afternoon has live scottish music and sunday night has open mic with many up and coming acts appearing. as well as all this it is planned to have clairvoyent nights with tv celebrity mediums, so if your looking for more that just your normal backstreet scottish pub you must visit the new whistlebinkies

Forget the above description which was written a while ago. Don't go near this pub - it's a dive. There are new owners who have ruined it. The first thing they did when they arrived was sack all the staff. Then they cancelled the successful quiz night which has now relocated back to the Settle Inn. Next they sacked the Friday night jam session which always got the place full. Then they ruined the food reputation by sacking the chef and buying 2 for 1 Tesco ready meals (I kid you not) to microwave. Now they only stock small 70 cl bottles of alcohol not the usual 1.5 litre pub size ones. The reason is that they are buying all their stock from supermarkets. I was in last Friday and there was 1 person in it. Everyone has moved down to the Settle. So please do not waste your time and money going in here - support the Settle Inn. It has a new owner and yes a really nice guy and there are decent punters once again.
