Tell us more about this venue.

Just nine miles outside Edinburgh stands the Scottish Mining Museum at Newtongrange. The museum includes massive machinery exhibits, a hands-on operations centre as well as interactive displays, reconstructions, sound and visuals to describe the history and technology of coal and the story of the mining communities. Set in a restored colliery, the history of Scotland's black diamonds is told from before Jurassic times through to the present day. Learn more about the peaks and troughs of the industry that was once the backbone of Britain as you experience the different elements of this dangerous yet lucrative environment.
