This review appears in the The List's Eating & Drinking Guide 2008 – in the shops now or buy online.
As we went to press with the 15th edition edition of The List Eating & Drinking Guide, this G1 Group-run landmark was preparing for another rejigging (with the six-week works due to commence in spring 2008). But as the building is listed, its owners can only do so much to the supremely elegant dining space (traditionally open in the evening) and the venue's Lite Bar (serving food through the day), the latter of which occupies the magnificently domed former telling room of the original Union Bank, built in the 1840s.
