This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
From business suits to groups of students, Bar 91 is as non-pretentious a venue as you get in the Merchant City. Clearly a local for many, its red velvet curtains and dimly lit décor, as well as a smattering of disco balls and a TV fireplace, make it just as welcoming for an outsider. Before you order your eyes will be drawn to big bowls of food being served at other tables – the salads, noodles and pastas on the day menu look and taste exceptionally fresh. A starter portion of nachos is more than enough to share. The peat-smoked haddock is flaky and light, while for a carb fix the reasonably priced burger bling menu suffices. The daily specials offer the chef’s experiments – if it’s a success it might make it on the menu permanently. As night falls the choice is slimmed down with a focus on plates to share and home-made pizzas. Bar 91 has been around for 17 years – and thanks to an adventurous chef and a decent wine list it should remain for many more years.
- High point: Big blinged-up portions
- Low point: Limited seating at busier times

I have to say I cant believe the comment from Angered west end. Bar 91 is always so welcoming and the staff extremely attentive and patient. I have taken friends and family alike for years and never been disappointed. It's a great bar with a great feel. I wish I lived nearer.

Bar 91Report -
Sunday 15th March 2009
I rarely feel the need to comment or complain about the service in bars however the staff working in this bar on the above date were extremely rude. The staff of Bar 91 were so eager to empty their bar for an unlicensed 'lock in' with their friends that they were offensive and rude to a party of (at least) twenty paying customers. The party I was with were merely finishing off their drinks before leaving the bar for the staff to close up. However the staff put music on at decibel level that was certainly unhealthy for ones ears.
I will never ever go back to this establishment.
