The McLintock hall was named after JOHN MCLINTOCK WHO LIVED IN THE HOUSE CALLED Abbotsford in Balfron He had built up his 'sweetie empire' in Glasgow. He also provided the bowling green for the village. The hall was opened in June 1923.
There is a Balfron Heritage group and Jim Thomson has written several books on the Balfron Heritage. The above information was taken from his first book.
