Boucher and Chardin: Masters of Modern Manners

This exhibition focuses on Jean Siméon Chardin's 'Lady Taking Tea' and François Boucher's 'Madame Boucher'. In an endeavour to tangentially transgress the path of traditional art history, the background to the two works will be examined using approximately 50 paintings, applied and decorative works, drawings and prints.

Hunter: Man, Medic and Collector

This exhibition tells the story of Dr. William Hunter, the Scottish obstetrician, teacher, collector and founder of the Hunterian museum. The displays explore Hunter's life and highlight both his passion for collecting and his hugely successful career as a royal physician, teacher of anatomy and surgery and scientific researcher. Parking for disabled visitors by prior arrangement only.

Lord Kelvin: Revolutionary Scientist

This permanent display is based around the life and work of Lord Kelvin. An exciting mix of hands-on activities, original scientific instruments, demonstrations and computer-generated images. Visitors will have the chance to investigate how solving problems in physics 150 years ago led to practical inventions which have transformed all of our lives today.

Weird and Wonderful

The Hunterian collection contains over a million objects many of which are world famous. There are many lesser known items, however, which are rarely seen. This display shows a small selection of these puzzling, bizarre and historically significant objects.
