Went to this place with a Groupon deal and would not recommend to anyone.

Though the food was nice there wasn't much of it and the service was appalling. We ate in the upstairs restaurant as no space downstairs. To be honest, I'm glad. Though we missed out on the atmosphere the downstairs was dirty and extremely run down.

The manager spent the evening wandering round either being down right rude or ignoring us and even though I had ordered a European meal days before we had to remind them to bring it...and they were not happy.

The service and organisation was shambolic and if you are looking for a relaxing night out this is not the place to go. The karaoke part was fun but we felt constantly harassed to buy overpriced drinks.

It's a shame as I've eaten in the other Ashoka restaurants and always enjoyed my visits.

If I was paying full price for this night I would have been livid, even at the Groupon rates it felt poor value for money. Don't go.

NEVER EVER GO...
I and my friends went (even came to know about) there just because of the Groupon offer and the the way they dealt with us was very bad.
I kept on calling them many times to make a booking for which they never answered. This forced me to go there directly with my friends.
The way (I dont know his name, but he seem to be the manager there,an old guy) he behaved was very offensive and disrespectful. He used a sentance which made all of us shocked as customers - "We have thousands of other customers, we dont even care what a single customer like you think about us...it doesnt matter" ...and he literally pushed us out of the restaurent...this is something which is seriously a blow to a customer's self-respect. None of us were drunk or shouting at them..I had even my family with me.
Me and my big circle of friends decided not to go back to that @8&^ ing restaurant ever..
Please let me know how I can complain to Groupon so that they can avoid such silly links which would affect there reputation adversly..

Thanks

The Ashoka curry karaoke is a must visit place especially for the ladies. for me it was kind of unexpected as i was told at the last minute that we were goin to this curry karaoke instead of a night club, but when i went there i realized that this is quiet fun. i like the exclusivity where the dj actually listens to you and play the music u wanted. The food was awesome i loved the hot and sweet curries which were served. so if anyone is thinking of an affordable nite out i would say The Ashoka curry karaoke

Booked for 16 folk and each group of drinks orders took no less than 15 minutes to arrive with the wine being Echo Falls at £15 a bottle. Tables already had spicy onions and pompadoms laid on. Pompadoms like rubber as the had to be pulled apart rather than breaking a piece off. We sent them back for fresh ones but the same type came back. Far too dark and dingy for my liking as I like to see what I am eating - no chance of that here! By now I was worried about the cleanliness as I could hardly see anything and I ran my finger along the flat of the knife and it was filthy with food still stuck to it! The DJ then came round with song books for the karaoke; needless to say the light wasn't bright enough for us to read it. We asked if the lighting could be turned up a bit to no avail and so it was pot luck choosing a song. The worse was yet to come though as although our party was one of the first too arrive, we were the last to eat - around 10pm! When we eventually did get to the buffet, it was in a very small room as hot as a sauna and most of the food had gone! The only options available were chicken and even then you had to hunt for it as the meat in many of the dishes was sparse. Major disappointment to say the least! Asked for a jug of water? Had to ask again another 30 minutes later! Beware its waitress service only and there were only 2 waitresses and 1 barman tending to everyone. To be fair the waitresses were doing their best in a bad situation but there was just not enough staff on for the numbers who had booked. A few other tables were also complaining about the service. After asking to speak to the Manager several times eventually a Floor Supervisor came to speak to us. She was full of excuses and apologies ("A large group appeared who hadn't booked and proceeded to help themselves to the buffet before your group, I'm so sorry!" Couldn't she have prevented this? "No, sorry!") She said the Manager was not in the building and so had to deal with all the complaints herself and she admitted that the service that night was poor and she was embarrassed. I felt for her as it seemed to me the Manager had left her to deal with the flak. I definitely would not recommend this place for food or service but the entertainment was good with the DJ doing his best to ensure everyone had a good time. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to keep us there though. If Curry Karaoke wants to compete with so many other great nightspots in Glasgow, in my opinion it's got a helluva long way to go and it'll be a cold day in Hell before I return!

I would advise anyone not to go to this restaurant, i went there for my hen night last weekend. We booked the restaurant initially for 32 people and paid deposits for 32 people, however, we told them in the lead up there could be more people about 40. On the evening 35 people turned up. . when we tried to pay the bill they wanted us to pay for the people who never turned up, after much arguing and us threatening to walk out and not buy another drink, they agreed that we did not need to pay for the people who never turned up and we paid the final bill. Two days later when i checked my bank account they had taken £130 out of my account unauthorised. They had held onto my details when i paid the deposit. Trading Standards are involved now but i would really really plead to people not to go to this restaurant or give them any card details as they are thiefs. They waiters also do not bring your change when you buy drinks and the person serving at the bar working the tills tells you its not her problem as she gave the server the change... Avoid at all costs.

We were at the curry karaoke last night and it was a fab night. We felt really welcome and the food was just sublime. Entertainment was a real treat with the DJ, pulling all sorts of tricks out his hat. I'm booking again for my wife's 40th today.

Food - 5 star!
Staff - 5 star!
Prices - 5 star!
Music - 5 star!

this place must be avoided like the plague went on sat 21st nov party of six we were booked into wrong part of the place which was downstairs one of our party is disabled and cant manage the stairs but all we got out of the so called manageress was you will have to go down the stairs.as this was not possible we had to leave but when we asked for our deposit back all we got was rudeness and aggression i would urge anyone looking for curry and karaoke to go somewhere else.

2. biz, Glasgow – 26 September 2009, 11:48pmAshoka Curry-KaraokeReport

Very disappointed. To be avoided. Party of 12 on a Saturday night out. Understaffed, drinks took ages, food took ages. We ordered more or less same round of drinks each time and paid after each round, but the bill for each round of drinks was wrong twice. The curries arrived but the rice arrived full 5 mins later, had to send it all back to get new food as it was cold. Very poor show. Asked for manager, none available. Waiter could not even tell us what curry dishes we were being served. Waiter was foreign and had communication problems even ordering drinks. Food was ok but nothing special. Will not be coming back here. 0/5 star rating

Very let down with my visit to this curry karaoke venue, food was nice but waiters seemed to be pushing you to buy drinks and it all seemed a bit tacky. The female toilets where overflowing and after several complaints we where allowed to use the upstairs toilets. If I hadn't been at a private function I would have left. Meal was reasonable but drinks very pricy
