This review is taken from the current (2012) edition.
Los Cardos is on a mission to persuade us that Mexican-style street food can be fast, healthy and fresh. Offering either sit-in or takeaway meals, the compact menu allows customers to build their own dinner. Start with a choice of styles (burrito, quesadilla or soft taco), add a choice of filling (vegetarian, meat based or even haggis) and then a range of toppings (including several salsas, sour cream or guacamole). The chatty staff are happy to advise if you are struggling to decide on the best combination. This pick and mix approach allows diners to indulge individual eating preferences and create food that is packed with layers of contrasting flavours and textures. Los Cardos aims to blend Mexican and Scots influences and the tasty haggis burrito epitomises this culinary fusion. Citrus-chilli chicken quesadilla is also full of flavour, especially when teamed with guacamole and spicy salsa verde. Those who want it hot should opt for the extra hot red salsa. If you fancy a pint with dinner, on Sundays customers can take meals back to the nearby Victoria pub.
- High point: They’re right. The haggis burrito really does work
- Low point: Small menu

Delicious! The quesadillas are massive (I can't finish one), the burritos are good (although not perfect), and the soft tacos are tasty as well. The salsas are a particular highlight. The staff are very friendly too and more than happy to recommend combinations.

To describe Red Tractor as "higher welfare" is misleading:
"But in its low and mean-minded animal welfare standards, the Red Tractor is a shocker. Anyone thinking it somehow means a good life for farm animals should take a reality check: it does not.
Take the most-eaten meat: chicken. At Red Tractor farms, you can cram 38kg of chickens into a square metre, against 39kg by law – the equivalent to about 20 chickens per square metre. "
