This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
Albert Roux, the most influential restaurant chef in the UK in the last 30 years, is now within touching distance of Edinburgh as his partnership with Inverlochy Castle Management International establishes Chez Roux restaurants in three Scottish hotels, including this attractive East Lothian country house designed by Edwardian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1901. Scottish chef Derek Johnstone realises the menus which blend Roux's rigorous French classicism with the inspiration of local food in a smallish dining room with golf-course views beyond. It's not La Gavroche, but it is 45 minutes from Edinburgh.
