Fans of Locanda de Gusti's previous incarnation as Bella Mbriana will be glad to know that restaurant veteran Rosario Sartore is still at the helm as head chef. The elegant interior includes comfortable leather chairs, wide windows and a gleaming bar. On weekends, guests can enjoy a drink in the basement wine bar Serendipity before heading upstairs for a meal. The weekly changing menu shows a soft spot for vegetarian and seafood dishes. A generous starter of char-grilled vegetables arrives with a soft disc of buffalo mozzarella. Surf clams are tossed with tender tagliatelle in a buttery sauce. For dessert, a wobbly vanilla panacotta is drizzled with a berry coulis. Rather than a house wine, Sartore features a ‘wine of the week’. A monthly theme night offers Prosecco, canapés and a four-course meal with matching wines for £48.
- High point: Noticeable care in wine and menu selection
- Low point: Specials board too high to notice

Locanda de GustiReport -
Was recommended this restaurant by fellow foodies around the Scottish circuit. Was delighted to hear they do a 2 course lunch for only £9.75 (coffee included) which in retrospect is absolutely nothing for the quality, fresh produce and service my wife and I received today. The surroundings are ambient and relaxing with a menu that will soak the appetite. I learned today it was awarded an AA rosette and nominated for several other awards which in my opinion are well deserved. I’ve eaten in many Italian restaurants around Scotland and do love the classic dishes but their seafood and alternate, original dishes on offer really make this one stand out from the rest. Glad to have ticked off this hidden gem and shall defo be visiting again..Soon.

I ate recently at Locanda De Gusti with my family. We eat out regularly and I was informed that Locanda was not only great quality food but also reasonable prices. I was not disappointed and personally having an avid love of fish the produce was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection - try the scallops! The rest of my family thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the service provided, with a friendly atmosphere and attentive staff I will definitely be returning!

I visited Locanda on a wednesday evening and the atmosphere was tremendous, busy restaurant with a real sense of enjoyment about the place. I had the mixed grilled seafood and finished with a home-made tiramisu. Its a bonus when a restaurant makes their own desserts. Locanda De Gusti is one of the best restaurants i visited this year.
