This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
A bright little juice bar on Kelvinbridge, the Flavour Co. offers a healthy choice of freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, home-made smoothies and thick milkshakes. The juices are all squeezed on the premises to their own recipes, ranging from simple orange and carrot juices to the more adventurous spinach, lime and apple and the zing of the raspberry, chilli, lime and ginger, which packs a real pick-me-up punch. Smoothies can be made with low-fat yoghurt on request, and the milkshakes can be full-fat, skimmed or soy milk. A simple menu of reasonably priced sandwiches, toasties and wraps offer something more substantial, with fillings such as coronation chicken or prawn and avocado, while hearty home-made soups and rich cakes are made by friends from the local farmers’ market. Keen to cater to the health conscious, Flavour Co. also make their own vegan-friendly chocolate cashew bites. For those still in need of a fix after all that healthy living, Flavour Co. serves a good coffee, rich, dark and satisfyingly bitter.
- High point: Chilli and raspberry juice a real eye-opener
- Low point: Presentation a bit spartan
