Camflava offers a must-try destination for Southside diners and a culinary home from home for Glasgow's growing African community. This former snooker club has been converted into a bar, restaurant and nightclub with live music from Congolese musicians adding to the good-time atmosphere at the weekends. The décor is clean, almost clinical, with black and white tiling throughout the dining room and more stereotypical African styling in the bar area. The Ivorian and Cameroonian chefs have created a menu ranging from Mozambican staple peri-peri chicken, to North African couscous, with West African dishes and flavours predominating. Highlights include a starter of alloco (sautéed plantain and rocket), deliciously smoky black-eyed pea and spiced pumpkin stew, and spiced chicken cooked with plantain, onions and peppers, as well as the chance to try cassava, yam and green banana and succulent goat. Desserts – not a strong feature of African cooking – include banana and rum crepes and chocolate fondant.
- High point: Authentic African ingredients and a feel-good vibe
- Low point: Layout means live music can make it difficult to talk and eat

Where do I start with this restaurant a few of my friends and I went to this restaurant and it was a wasted our girls night out. The food arrived luke warm I felt that it must have been sitting in the kitchen for a few hours it didn't look as if it was fresh. It took a long time for our drinks to arrive. The custumer service was very poor the staff didn't look happy to be working there. They seemed to busy talking each other forgeting that there was custumers waiting to be serived. Even though we didn't enjoy the food and service we had to ask the staff 4 times for the bill I think they didn't want us to pay, me and my friends could have walked out the restaurant and I don't think the owners would have noticed. I have eatten in a lot of restaurants but I have to say this is the worst I have ever been to wouldn't recommed it was a waste of money.

So, my partner and i had heard about this place and despite the bad review we decided to give it a go. We booked a table on a Wednesday night.
When we arrived they had no record of our booking. They actually seemed quite annoyed to see us. Getting a table was not a problem as the only other table with people was about to pay their bill so plenty of space.
We sat down, got the menus and started browsing. I have to admit the food did sound nice. 5 minutes later when we had decided what to have, the waiter, who obviously didn't speak very good English, came over. He told us that they only had 1 of the 4 starters and 2 of the 14 main courses available. At that point we had had enough and walked out.
Maybe that sort of service is normal in Africa, but in Glasgow? no thanks.

Wow, what can I say that has not already been said, this place rocks!!!
Starting with a fantastic welcome, the experience just gets better and better, Glasgow's restaurants can learn from these guys.
The food is tasty and inexpensive (ntaba is amazing), the entertainment is fun and lively, and the staff are so warm.
I have been many times over the summer and had a different experience each time, never a bad one.
Maybe clairebear0209 was at Di Maggios by mistake.

We've eaten four times at "Camflava Restaurant," a relatively new African restaurant in the Southside of Glasgow, and have had exceptionally good meals each time. The restaurant is reasonably attractive with a stunning Bar and Giraffle, Elephant,Zebra frames on the wall which add a bit of the African style. The menu is standard but they will make you special dishes on request.
For those who haven't recently been to Camflava it's really gotten quite excellent. The restaurant's atmosphere is sophisticated but, at the same time, almost homey, making Camflava Restaurant a very pleasant dining experience. Prices, too, are reasonable for the quality.
African Sunshine Cocktails. Just saying it makes your mouth water. The African are not famous as cocktail makers, but there are one places in Glasgow that contradict this: CAMFLAVA RESTAURANT. Go there and try their African Sunshine and WAKA-WAKA. my mum has been drinking cocktails for almost 45 years, she said Africa Sunshine Cocktail is the Best of All!!! No more comment, go there and try it out!!!!

I was taken out for my birthday on saunday 1st august by my brothers, sisters and dad at camflava. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable meal of african tomato stew, ntamba( slowly cokked and roasted goat meat marinated in african spices) with fried plantains, poulet dG, mixed grilled and jollof rice. this was followed by quality cocktails (waka waka and african sunshine) in the wine bar, which is really cosy and great for a drink with friends and family. The cocktail and wine menu is rich lots to select from. we were 10 of us and every one had a great time. I would personally recommend camflava to all. Delicious and authentic!!!!.
If you are looking for a nice meal and some where to have a drink, afterwards, i would strongly recommend camflava

Great food and great environment. I was there at camflava, at about 8pm and it was very busy with more than 40 covers. The food was great, as i ate african seafood soup for my starter and the famous jollof rice for my main. This is pure authentic AFRICAN FOOD and would definetely recommend it to others. Tghe congolese ban was great as well. This is a must go place..

Attemtped to have dinner here tonight. Have to say that it was one of the worst meals Ive ever had. The service was terrible, just one harassed waitress to attend to the entire place, we actually had to go to the bar to get our own drinks. The food was inedible, my starter of fish soup had no identifible fish in it, just a gruel with some spices in it and my beef stew was tougher than a week in jail, the rice was boil in the bag and the dishes were served at totally different times, my partner got his main at least ten minutes after everyone else. Its actually the first meal that I have refused to pay for. Avoid this place!
