The 2012 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This review is taken from the current (2012) edition.
If you can’t remember your last really great burger, head to Holyrood Road to have your faith in the patty renewed. Savouries are split between ‘one’ and ‘two handers’ – the former being edible with a fork while chatting, the latter needing both hands, a stack of napkins and all your concentration. Like the juicy venison burger, with melted brie and cranberry sauce dripping out of it – or any of the other seventeen on the list, packed with the likes of smoked applewood cheese, rosemary mushrooms and spicy ‘death sauce’. There’s also a list of gigantic ice-cream sundaes that will give you a sugar rush to last the weekend. The twelve coolest chrome pumps you’ve ever seen pour out regularly changing craft drafts from Scotland and beyond, though the truncated wine list seems more of an afterthought. This no-frills, red-brick and dark-wood space is for meatier things than wine.
- High point: Burgers of distinction
- Low point: Food service ends quite early

I went here after reading the reviews on this site and i have to agree that me and my girlfriend loved the place.
Although it is a bit pricey for drinks - £4 for a pint of Paroni, Tennents, which im sure is cheaper, wasn't on the Menu but was available at the bar which I didn't notice until i went to pay my bill. A small glitch but I'll know for next time..The style of the place was brilliant and the burgers were top notch! huge freshly made and a nice sized portion of chips to go with it. My girlfriend had a milkshake as well and it was good, definitely worth the extra few quid as you definitely get your moneys worth

The burgers really are juicy, flavoursome beasts here, with great fillings and I think, something for everyone.
Also small dishes like lamb kofta with tzatziki, chicken skewers with chili relish.
The milkshake I had was amazing too - made with premium chocolate ice cream and real chocolate in it I think, as opposed to nasty chocolate topping.
Service was friendly and casual. Only thing is, I went when it was pretty quiet, so it might be different at busy times.

Love coming here often for a bite to eat. Surprisingly large inside, it has been recently been taken over by new management who have much improved the site.
Good atmosphere- busy, but not so much so that its uncomfortable or too loud. Staff are very friendly and attentive.
The menu offers a range of inventive gourmet burgers (i love the chilli burger- which comes with jalapenos, chili cheese, sour cream and a rich spicy sauce), as well as salads and sides. The burgers are generous in size and presented nicely, on wooden boards with a pot of coleslaw and string fries. Deserts are lovely too- try the toffee sundae...if you any room left!!
Fantastic range of drinks, including many beer choices and cocktails for under a fiver. Wine is jokely listed under "cheap", "good" and "great" - meaning there is various price ranges. The beer and burger deal for under a tenner should not be missed!h

I absolutely love this place - we spent most of our last Festival eating here and never had a bad meal. I am a veggie but my boyfriend informs me that they do the best burgers he has ever had (and he has now tried them all) and the haloumi burger is to die for from my point of view!
Always great, friendly service and a fantastic beer selection on tap - if we lived nearer we would be there every week
