This review is taken from the 2010 edition.
Located in the heart of Glasgow's designer fashion district Tuscan Square’s stylish cream interior entices in excitable shoppers on a break from spending. The friendly and efficient staff and a sunny conservatory leading onto an enclosed rear terrace make it a surprisingly family friendly option also. The menu is loosely Mediterranean but includes some classic options such as steaks and fish and chips. From the a la carte menu a pea and mint soup is a gregarious green puree packed with fresh flavours and works nicely with some well-salted focaccia bread. The arrabiata mussels don’t really deliver on chilli kick but are firm and fresh. Medallions of red mullet have a tasty, crispy skin, offset nicely with lightly steamed asparagus and spinach. The stone-baked pizzas are freshly made and the promise of ‘wild’ mushrooms is truly honoured with an exciting array of funghi peeking out from underneath some proper creamy buffalo mozzarella. In spring and summer the alfresco part of the establishment will step up a gear with a mobile bar and terrace 'grazing' menu serving seafood platters, charcuterie selections, oysters and more to the summer drinks crowd.
- High point: Some of the best outside dining space in Glasgow
- Low point: Some of the sauces a little lacklustre
