All too often Scotland’s best seafood is spirited off to the fine dining tables of Madrid and Paris. Somehow, and we can all be genuinely grateful for their efforts, the Kishorn Seafood Bar has since 1996 been stemming the tide at least long enough to let diners willing to travel this far north to enjoy affordable world class Scottish seafood. The seafood platter here is surely the finest in the country, overflowing with king scallops, queen scallops, langoustines, crabs, oysters, mussels and squat lobster tails. If you like your crustaceans cooked simply and served boat fresh this is heaven. More log cabin than restaurant choose to dine inside amidst the aromas of garlic butter or recline at a bench outside and admire the loch and mountain views. All the seafood here is local and the crab is even caught by the owner’s husband; the Kishorn Seafood Bar is that sort of place. It may be a long way from anywhere, but that is all part of the charm and it is certainly closer than Madrid and Paris and arguably prettier too.
