Three miles from Glamis Castle in Angus, this small country house hotel offers elegant dining, while doing away with the formality of a dress code. Ingredients travel as little as possible before reaching the plate - take the Tamworth pork for example, where pigs are reared on the grounds, fed by windfall orchard apples and veg from the hotel garden. Free-range eggs and seasonal strawberries and raspberries from the garden can also be bought in the hotel shop.
