Run by dynamic husband and wife team Brian and Victoria Dunn, Peter’s is very much a neighbourhood bistro. With a short but changing menu, conscientious service and a casual atmosphere, it’s clear that many of the clientele are local and regular diners. Responding to customer demand the pre-theatre set menu runs all night during the week offering value dining for a casual midweek meal out. Home-made soup of the day may be a fresh and tasty lentil and vegetable broth. A duo of sea bass and salmon with nicely crisped skin is served with a spinach potato cake, pesto and a wine and cream sauce. There is a daily roast, honey-cured ham served with roast potatoes and root vegetables – it’s a hearty plate of home-cooking though the gravy isn’t quite what mother used to make. The weekend brings more choice on the à la carte menu where scallops, lamb cutlets and pan-roasted cod feature, while Sunday sees a new brunch menu including eggs Florentine and kippers.
- High point: Great value weekday dining
- Low point: Lacklustre gravy

Had been to Peters once before, the food then was good but the service not as good.
Today it was terrible on all aspects. Arrived at 1.30 on a Sunday afternoon and the place was empty...not a good sign. Ask if we could sit anywhere and was told no as the tables were all booked! I wondered later if they were booked for that evening and it was sheer laziness not so reset the table. I was with my 6 year old daughter, so I asked if there was a children's menu to be told no just chicken in breadcrumbs or a half portion of the 'roast of the day'. So we both ordered the roast, which turned out to be Gammon. When the food arrived I noticed thinly sliced gammon covered in gravy. When I tried the meat it was tough, dry and tasteless. No body came to ask if our food was ok within a few minutes of it being served so both my daughter and I put the meat to one side and ate the potatoes and veg. When the plates were cleared I commented on the meat and no apology was given. After we finished our drinks I decided to leave and asked for the bill. They had charged us the full amount for the food which we hadn't eaten!.
Now remember the place was still empty, so I walked up to the little bar and handed over the bill and asked the lady to check it. She said it was correct. The waiter now appeared and I commented the meat wasn't fresh and he said he had tried it and it was fine, then she said it was fresh and only cooked yesterday!!!!! Then I paid the full bill and said I wouldn't be back to which the waiter replied 'Don't come back'.
So to summarize. Not good food, terrible service, complaints handled very badly and insisting food is paid for when its not edible.
DONT USE THIS PLACE!!!

Peter's West EndReport -
We have been 4 times now and cannot fault the food or service, very friendly staff. Steaks very good and lots of nice touches that make this place stick out above the rest. As an example chilled champagne glasses and warmed brandy’s. Would highly recommend Peters as a place to go for an excellent meal.
