This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
Situated at the tricky end of Byres Road, the Two Figs has justifiably consolidated its appeal over the past couple of years. This is a place to relax – with cheery staff, cosy booths, warm lighting, exposed wood and a smattering of fig-themed motifs. From classic and house cocktails (and interesting spirit–mixer pairings) through to desserts, the menu maintains the figgy nods, and although the choice isn’t vast, it is thoughtfully devised with a quirky individuality. The smalls menu offers a tapas experience – think ribs, salads, nachos, calamari, plus teriyaki chicken wings that make gloriously sticky finger food. All-day mains feature burgers, fish and chips, salads, plus a considerable Asian and Middle Eastern influence in noodles, stir-fries and curries plus Persian halloumi – a little skimpy on the cheese but the spiky citrus dressing and the chips with rosemary sea salt more than compensated. The few desserts feature local ice-creams and a regional cheeseboard, plus an enticing sticky figgy pudding. Breakfast is served until noon on weekdays, with an extended brunch menu until a leisurely 5pm on weekends.
- High point: Original and tasty menu
- Low point: Wobbly table

The Two FigsReport -
Tremendous food. We went at lunch time and the atmonsphere was great for either a coffee, light or as we had full lunch. I had the noodles with a chicken skewer which had great flavours and the red chillies gave it just the right kick. My wife had the veggie burger and it hit the mark and said it was the best she'd had in Scotland. Papers are there for a lazy brunch and the staff we're very pleasant. Funky, delicious and we'll be back with friends.
