This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
With an upmarket focus on champagnes and cocktails, Bond No. 9 seeks to provide Leith’s residents and visitors with something different to other watering holes in the area, and succeeds in attracting a stylish and diverse clientele. Classic cocktails share a bill with some brilliant house inventions, all served with aplomb. Drinks are sourced with an eye for quality which avoids pretension, and the helpful and informed staff go to great lengths to make sure their customers are pleased with their choice. The food menu may be a side line, but it’s a well-judged one. Burgers are well cooked with an eye for detail, with high quality blue cheese making a welcome appearance. Other mains, despite being recognisable bar staples, share the same flair and quality ingredients. Desserts aren’t a high point, but the excellent cocktails are a great alternative. It could be easy for Bond No. 9 to become another soulless cocktail bar, but it avoids this with its enthusiastic drinks, focused staff and intimate and relaxed atmosphere.
- High point: Staff who are genuinely interested in how you liked your Manhattan
- Low point: Dessert ….but the house cocktails are more tempting anyway

Bond No. 9Report -
Good atmosphere, and relaxing feeling. The food was good; I ordered a rib-eye steak and the size was fantastic. Downfall - I got six cut chips!! But the steak was good. My partner went veggie, and was happy with the portion and quality.
For a pudding we went for the cheese board - disappointing. Very small portions of cheese (note to Bond No9....improve the portions of cheese)
We will be back with hopefully some improvements, although very minimal.
