Imli – the Hindi word for tamarind – is a small new Indian takeaway located just a samosa-throw from its better-established sister takeaway Eastern Spices. There are few frills in the operation, with customers waiting for their order at the counter able to observe preparation on a tandoor oven and small cooking range. All the standards are covered in a averagely sized menu; for something more original Imli gosht has lamb in a sweet and sour tamarind sauce while Khashi garam massala is a signature dish of lamb in a thick sauce with hot green chillies. Naans freshly baked in the tandoor oven or the usual rice and side dishes supplement the generously sized main-course portions.
