Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2011/12 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.

Although used as an ante room by diners at the adjoining Room in Leith restaurant, Teuchters Landing is a separate venue with a good deal to offer. The bar, which is decorated with a strong nautical theme, is popular with drinkers drawn by a choice of ales that includes a guest option and is often packed for sporting events shown on a retractable big screen. And, for those who are peckish, it offers a quirky way to stave off the hunger pangs. In addition to oysters and mussels, the 'mug menu' features comfort food including breakfast rolls from late morning to early afternoon, and the likes of haggis stovies, Cullen skink and lamb stew until 10pm. All are served with oatcakes and come in large or small mugs. Diners can enjoy their food standing at the bar, sitting on a comfortable settee or, on a warm day, at one of the tables on the outside terrace. And if a mug of food fails to satisfy that hunger, a cheese board or pudding of the day should do the job.

  • High point: Comfort food in casual surroundings
  • Low point: Can be busy for major events on the big screen

Reviews of Teuchters Landing (1c Dock Place, Edinburgh)

1. Dines out every day., Leith. – 9 December 2011, 5:32pm5 starsTeuchters LandingReport

I "know" the dishes here are good & can be exeptional!
The Whisky list & draught cask conditioned beer are also extremely good.Plenty choice of spirits & wines.
The service is very good. The facade & interior of the old ferry terminus point are & have been preserved well. They even have a floating pontoon with tables & chairs."We have sunny days sometimes"? With great views of the old seamans mission.(Malmaison now.)Still an exeptional building.Providing a extremely/cosy/homely place to eat & drink. What more can you ask for.
When I don't fancy a Michelin restaurant.I pop in here.
