The 2011/12 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
Situated at the Partick end of Byres Road, this branch of the quickly expanding Tony Macaroni chain enjoys a generous space on two levels. It is a slickly run but cosy restaurant/pizzeria with waiters in black and dim lighting. The menu is extensive – the choice of pizza toppings easily bypasses 30 – but there is no feeling of being rushed while getting to grips with it. The inclusion on the menu of aranci – tomato and mozzarella rice balls coated in breadcrumbs – underlines the authenticity of much of the food on offer as these are rarely found outside southern Italy. In a similar vein, pizza bianca (without tomato) is another rare but welcome addition. The ventre del diavolo, or devil’s belly, has a topping of mozzarella, Italian sausage, broccoli and chillies but despite the name is not too fiery. It’s not all pasta and pizza though – fish choices include the perfectly cooked fillet of sea bass pan-fried with tarragon, dill and lemon butter.
- High point: Cosy, friendly and authentic
- Low point: Menu's huge choice could be streamlined

Tony MacaroniReport -
the food is not consistently at a high standard, ok for taking the kids out for lunch but don't expect anything particularly amazing.
