Located across the road from the King's Theatre at Tollcross, Iman's is the ideal spot for a pre- or post-theatre meal. The very reasonable prices and BYOB mean it's possible to enjoy a two-course meal with wine without compromising your budget. With beach-coloured walls and atmospheric lighting, the restaurant exudes a warm glow even on the coldest of nights and the menu features a good mix of traditional British-Asian and home-style Punjabi classics. Particular highlights are the 'Mum's Home-Cooked Specials, which include generous portions of chicken, lamb and prawns in an aromatic desi saag (spinach) sauce. Tender tandoori lamb chops in a mild, creamy yoghurt are a healthy plateful. While the naan bread arrives a little too charred around the edges, the parathas are nicely cooked, moist without being greasy, and the compelling array of side dishes includes a huge bowl of mutter paneer cooked with peas and onions, and a refreshing tarka dhal prepared with fresh red chillis, ginger, garlic, onions and tomatoes. The restaurant has applied for an alcohol licence (at time of press) which should be in place by summer 2011, and if you're still hankering after a taste of the subcontinent when you've finished your meal, take home a selection of sweets and pastries from Iman’s shop around the corner. In other news, Iman’s have recently opened a new 120-seater restaurant and takeaway in Nicholson Square, which features a similar mix of Desi dishes as well as snacks and business lunch menus.
- High point: Home-style Punjabi classics
- Low point: Slightly burnt naan bread

Been here a few times before taking in a show at the Kings. Visited wth the family early tonight. Food was yummy, sadly the service was very poor. Uninterested, bored looking young men. I don't think we'll bother going again.

comment #1 removed for what reason, comment #4 TAZ (Mr Tahar the owner) compliments himself about his restaurant and trys to deceive the readers as to how good his restaurant is.This is not a good sign of a business , where the customer is taken for a ride.(google imans and read the reviews you see Taz once again trying to deceive the public by writing his own reviews)Are the other reveiws fabricated also.
The reason for this comment is that i visited the restaurant after reading the other reveiws and found the place to be other than what was written about it.I wasted my money as the food, service and value was awful. After a little reading of more reveiws i realised what the owner was up to.REVIEWS ARE FOR THE PUBLIC TO MAKE !NOT THE OWNERS.

First visit to Imans recently. Loved the food, the atmosphere, the waiters. Definately a repeat visit on the cards in the near future. The friendliness of the place was the highlight of the evening.

Excellent food - tasty. Good selection for veggies. Good prices. Free corkage on BYOB. Service could be a bit faster but not bad.

I am amazed at there not being an abundance of favourable reports on Imans. My Wife, family and many friends have been regular visitors to Imans since it opened in November and have never had cause for complaint. The food is authentic and superb, service is great and the atmosphere pleasantly open. BYOB without corkage is an added bonus and all the food, including "House specials" excellant value. In my opinion Imans is going to be a leading light on the Edinburgh Punjab eating scene.

(+) Cheap and cheerful, BYO, great service, amazing naan bread, would be happy to recommend if you're in the area.
(-) Toilets are freezing, big screen tv very distracting and out of place
