There can be few better-sited spots than this for a café in Edinburgh. A bright and airy corner premises which catches the sun nicely, it has no need of any outdoor seating when the Meadows are just across the road. A collection of students and locals pass through, picking up healthy and wholesome paninis, wraps, sandwiches and salads, and parents out for a walk with the family will be pleased to see a kids' lunch which features a piece of fruit and a cup of milk to offset the sweet treat. The breakfast menu – from muesli to stacked pancakes to bacon and eggs on toast – is packed full, a lunch deal of hearty home-made daily soup (the blended leek and potato comes recommended) and a sandwich/panini/wrap is excellent value, and the cakes and milkshakes are truly tempting. Those shakes, a frothy blend of ice-cream and a whole chocolate bar like an Aero or a Galaxy Caramel, and 3pm folk sessions on Sundays stand out as calling cards of a business that likes to have a bit of fun with lunch.
- High point: Great lunch deals, and sweet treats which are worth the extra calories
- Low point: Some tables a bit too close together for privacy

Made 2 visits to the lovely Treehouse last week and was reminded why it's one of my favourite places in Edinburgh. Amazing food, great coffee, cheery and helpful staff. A wee gem on the edge of the meadows. Love it.

EASILY the best egg/bacon roll I've had... I think probably ever; creamy egg and perfect piggy. Coffee? PERFECT! Temperature perfect (the milk's not lava or as hot as the sun!), super tasty and prettified with amazing coffee/milk patterns.
And the homemade cake is exquisite; moist, delicious and lovingly baked by the owner.
Great atmosphere and warm welcomes by the lovely staff ensure your visit to this wee lovingly built den is always a pleasure! Thanks ladies!...
Knowing me, knowing Treehouse - I'll be back for more!

I love this place, it's laid back and relaxed and perfect at any time of the day. The live sessions on a Sunday are great. Good prices as well.

I eat here once or twice a week for lunch. Staff are always friendly and quick to serve. Food is so so good and very consistent - panini's always perfect, latte's and hot chocolate's lovely and milionaire shortbread super sweet. Highly recommended. Best of it's kind in Tollcross area - and I've tried most of them!

...LOVE this place. the sausage and egg breakfast rolls and carrot cake are possibly the bestest in the world. friendly quirky atmosphere and staff. perfect place to take a time out and read the paper with coffee and cake, or meet friends for a good old chin wag. 10/10. Hx

Great food, endlessly friendly and helpful staff, i stop off for coffee and cake as part of my routine several times a week at this lively, welcoming cafe. Top grub, reasonable prices. Must visit if you head to the Burgh.
