This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
SoHo is a low-ceiling lively place that specialises in bar meals and pizzas and seems one of the few places in town to be regularly busy even midweek. Service is sharp and generally smiley and the menu is Mediterranean-influenced, with a Scots slant – black pudding and haggis even making their way on to pizzas. Despite the stone oven, the pizza bases seem a little conventional rather than exceptional, yet the topping of tomato, goat’s cheese, pepper and caramelised onion – there are more familiar ones too – was full of freshness and flavour. The pollo funghi is more than just filling, with the mushroom sauce deliciously creamy and the small roasted rosemary potatoes nicely cooked. With tourist attractions and plenty of shopping just a short walk away, as well as the temptation of the adjoining bar plus good-value set menus, it’s no mystery why people are dining in numbers in this cosy basement eaterie.
- High point: Good value, good fun
- Low point: Pizzas can be hit and miss

Just returned from an awful night at Soho. When booking I asked for a booth. None was available on arrival and we were shown to a table crammed next to others. Before ordering a booth became available. I asked to be moved as we had booked one. I was promised this would be attended to in'2 minutes'. We were then ignored. Music was so loud that patrons had to shout and no one could hear anyone else speak. Food was well below average. I agree with big mac - avoid!
