This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
Immediately on stepping inside Torres, there is absolutely no doubt what type of restaurant you have entered. From the Latin music on the stereo, to pictures of flamenco dancers on the menu the diner is somewhat overpowered by all things Spanish. Part of the Harlequin chain, Torres does feel like it is trying a bit too hard to create an Andaulcian feel, but the food generally does not disappoint. The grilled sardines taste fresh and healthy, and the stalks of asparagus drizzled with olive oil are not overcooked. However, staple dishes such as patatas bravas are fairly average as are the lamb meatballs with tomato sauce. Whilst the food is tasty enough, there is nothing on the menu that really stands out and the desserts seem to all come from the freezer. Where the restaurant does excel is at great value deals such as the pre-theatre offer of three tapas and a glass of wine deal for £10.95. Situated on busy Sauchiehall Street, this is a place to grab a quick meal before heading into town.
- High point: Mushrooms stuffed with chorizo and black pudding
- Low point: Stale pan fresco
