Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2011/12 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

Recently reopened as the Mill Inn by Stewart and Suzanne Rodgers, the former Culter Mill restaurant has set itself up as the village inn. Refurbishment has restored some of the old building's iron fireplaces, mosaics and sandstone brickwork, while real ales and all-day pub-style food are now on offer. I felt I had to write a review after seeing the previous one. I have eaten on several occasions at this lovely place. Staff have always been courteous and ask if they can do anything for myself and 3 year old son. The food is great quality and well presented. I especially love the game pie . I will continue to eat here. The owners Stewart and Alison have great staff with good manners, which can be hard to find.

Disgusting- drive on! We went in this Saturday night after driving past it several times and were worse than disappointed. I had chicken fajitas which were as tough as boot leather and a very small portion and my sons peas were brown and looked as though they had been cooked days ago, we ate it because we were in a hurry but were very, very disappointed by the quality. Also, when paying I was asked if the food was alright I said about how bad we thought it was and she couldnt have cared less, didnt offer me a discount or even our drinks, which was a semi flat diet coke and a pint of bitter, so to add to bad food we also got rotten customer service! Dont bother going here, it was awful, theres plenty of other places that do food on that road, next time we'll be trying one of those.
