Formerly known as Rice & Spice, Haq's Restaurant and Takeaway provides quality Indian food at reasonable prices. Newspapers, light green lamps and silver tables provide a comfortable setting for customers sitting in or for those ordering takeaway. The extensive menu includes a variety of kebabs and pakoras, soups, tandoori dishes and classic curries. The lamb roganjosh has a savoury tomato sauce and generous pieces of lamb, while the vegetable biryani is spicy and filling. The crisp poppadoms are ideal for dipping into the smooth mango chutney. Haq's also offers free home delivery on orders over £10, and the super mega deal is hard to beat: one popular curry of your choice, pilau rice, naan bread and a can of coke for only £8.50.

Ordered takeaway last night. Food was disgusting. No taste, grizzly meat - 8 chunks - swimming in oil. Rang manager today to complain and he put the phone down!

NOT RECOMMENDED

ok it is now almost 2 hrs later and apparently the delivery man is in my street, except he's not. And they're not answering the phone any more.

Well after being old the delivery would be 40 minutes we are still waiting an hour and a half later. Two phone calls have apparently vanished into the void. Seriously not impressed.

Haq's is very much a hit-or-miss experience, and being something of a lazy sod in the kitchen I hit them quite often for orders, they're local, they're quick to deliver (most of the time) , friendly, and affordable.
However in the past 2 weeks I've ordered the same dish, Chili Garlic Lamb, and my partner has ordered the Chicken Pathia, twice they've been delicious and hot hot hot!! Tonight we had flavourless lumps of meat absolutely SWIMMING in oil, no heat at all unless we munched on the occasional small green chilli in my dish. We had to share these.
In fact no flavour at all, ugh, half of it is in the bin and because of the oilslick we both felt queasy.
The Meal Deal for Two is great value, you get 2 curries, rices, and one naan, and two cans of juice. We ordered an extra garlic naan ( they forgot it) and ordering 2 cans of Diet Coke as part of the deal, we received one Tango and one Irn Bru....
Come on Haq's, we know you can be good, don't let the old standards slip! Less of the revolting oil! And get someone on the phone who can take orders properly!!
