Ally McGrath's Osso Restaurant not only showcases the chef's polished cooking skills with some creative evening dining, but it's also Peebles' number-one coffee hang-out and reliable lunch stop. Awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2011, the restaurant's tasting menu might feature Skye scallop with cured pollock, tapenade and romesco to start; roast pigeon with foie gras tortellini, ceps and watercress to follow. The evening à la carte menu features mains such as braised hare leg in season, with mash, cabbage and green sauce or Scottish sirloin with braised shin, roasted root veg and béarnaise sauce. All-day café options include soups, burgers, risottos, tapas and baked goods.
