Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2011/12 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.

A burgeoning farm shop, café and gift shop situated at Channel Farm, a working farm with inspiring views over Loch Leven. Good food using local produce and home cooking mark out the imaginative range of food available.

The Larder

Listed in The Larder – in the shops now or buy online.

Loch Leven’s Larder combines vegetables from the surrounding fields with an impressively stocked farm deli and gift shop. Try before you buy at the popular café, which uses many of the seasonal ingredients that the shop sells. Beautifully located, the Larder and its attached, open-plan café overlook Loch Leven and serves as a base for walks along, and even around the loch’s shoreline.

Reviews of Loch Leven's Larder (Channel Farm, Milnathort, Kinross)

1. Davey Mac, Scotland Perth – 21 June 2011, 2:39pmLoch Leven's LarderReport

My second visit to this restaurant.
First visit in May, I couldnt see anything on the 'specials' board
so settled for coffee.

latest visit last Monday 14th(?) June, I ventured to try the
''Beef Casserole, with baked potato''

There was beef, sure enough, and well cooked. There was also
what looked like green lentils, sweet peppers, a strange 'tomatoey'
aftertaste, and a small overcooked jacket potato.
Call me picky, but I expect a Beef Casserole to have lots of gravy
in this case, the whole was barely moist.
They have a greengrocery shop attached to the place!!! Why oh why can they not dumpt the ghastly Bistro style menu and get some
homecooking on the menu.
May I suggest any of the following
Liver and bacon
Haggis Neeps n Tatties
Mince Neeps n Tatties
A basic stew, with a slow cooked Lamb/Beef or Pork based stew
with potatoes,carrots,and onions.
All day breakfast, with choice of ingredients.

Even Fish n Chips.

Staff were pleasant, but I was relieved not to be asked if I'd enjoyed my meal, because my party were having a lovely day out and itg was a case of eat and leave quietly to avoid spoiling the day.
