You can’t miss the South African Zulu Lounge, what with its animal-print exterior. This is a tiny caravan-like café, with barely room to swing a cat, but one packed to the brim with warmth and welcome. Sit on a zebra-striped stool and watch the world go by, while getting your antioxidant fix with a ‘red’ cappuccino, one of a range of rooibos tea ‘espresso’ drinks complete with a swirl of cinnamon and honey. The menu is vast, featuring breakfast rolls, ‘big’ breakfasts, salads, wraps, soups, sandwiches, cakes, smoothies and hot chocolates. Everything is made from scratch on the premises, and can be adapted to suit a multitude of tastes and dietary requirements. The South African breakfast comes with fried eggs, grilled cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, boerewors sausages and a pile of chunky brown toast. It’s delicious. Soups include curried carrot, pea and watercress and butternut squash and coconut. If you’re feeling hungry, try a ‘gatzby’: a foot long baguette filled with biltong, avocado, feta and mayo, and finish with a fat cream cheese and blueberry muffin or date flapjack.
- High point: Appealing menu
- Low point: But choosing could be tricky
Hungry?
At Chris and Kim’s cosy café, you’ll find a warm South African welcome infused with delicious home-made food.
Try our heavenly, home-made muffins, including our scrummy gluten free variety. All are freshly baked daily on the premises and the perfect accompaniment to our reviving, freshly roasted and organic Fair Trade range of coffees and teas.
Or dip into a bowl of our delicious range of nutritious, tasty soups. Popular creations include three bean and tomato, butterbean and coconut milk and our special Elephant Soup!
Crammed with goodness, our freshly prepared sandwiches are a bite above the rest. Maybe you’ll want to try a South African ‘Gatzby’, a huge crusty filled roll packed with the flavours of avocado, biltong (dried beef) and crisps.
At under £5, whatever combination you choose we promise our wallet friendly soup and fresh sandwich deals will leave you warm and satisfied.
And if the sun’s out, why not pop in to relax over a mouth-wateringly fresh frozen yoghurt drink or smoothie. Just like our huge muffins, the kids love ‘em!
In fact, whatever tickles your taste buds, we aim to please. After all, food is our passion.
So whether it’s a craving for a chocolate muffin, soup, a hearty sandwich, a coffee or even to place an order for a freshly baked cake or fresh Springbok burger we look forward to serving you at Zulu Lounge.

Amazing lunch stop! Friendly staff, cool atmosphere and an option to sit in. Choice of fillings are amazing and flavoursome and the choice of bread is good too. Fantastic New Hot Chocolate Range. Would definately go again!
