Occupying a prime location on a busy corner of Morningside Road, Blue Glass, with its crisp blue and white décor and relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, brings a hint of the Mediterranean to Edinburgh's Southside. Café by day and bistro by night, it offers something for everyone. The lunchtime menu includes baked potatoes, sandwiches and pasta and salad dishes at reasonable prices, catering to local yummy mummies and shoppers. Come the evening, however, Blue Glass serves up a weekly changing menu of bistro favourites using fine Scottish produce from local suppliers. A typical starter might be a crunchy salmon fish-cake, packed with fish and served with tangy tomato chutney. Asparagus and cream cheese tart is tasty and wholesome. Mains are decidedly more substantial, although there is a tendency to compensate quantity for quality in some instances: a vast portion of pan-fried sea bass with vegetable ribbons could use a lot more seasoning. That aside, this is a relaxed and welcoming environment and would be a good option for a family meal out.

Blueglass café bistro is a new business, that opened at the end of December 2007. Blueglass is ideally situated on the corner of bustling Morningside Road and Churchill Place.

It is the perfect venue for lunch, dinner or just a quick coffee or a drink. Café by day and bistro by night, Blueglass offers an intimate and relaxed setting where you can enjoy unfussy food prepared with the freshest of produce.

Our café menu offers a range of dishes such as hot filled rolls served until 12 noon, fresh sandwiches, soups, freshly-fired pizzas and delicious salads from 12 noon to 6pm.

Our evening bistro menu is served from 6pm onwards and is changed every 2 weeks to make the most of seasonal ingredients. We have a carefully selected wine list that complements the menu. On a Sunday we have a family friendly menu that includes a Sunday Roast dish with all the trimmings and children can choose from our café menu.

Blueglass is open 7 days a week from 10 am. Our facilities include highchairs, baby changing, smaller portions for children and is suitable for wheelchair users
