A bright blue interior sets the scene for the aptly named Blueglass, ideally placed on a main corner in the heart of bustling Morningside. For busy shoppers and students, the lunch menu offers the type of café food to keep you going – baked potatoes, pizzas and sandwiches – while a more bistro-inspired menu is available in the evenings. Starters include salmon fish-cakes served with a cinnamon spiced apple chutney – a somewhat confusing combination – and breaded brie, which is overcooked and chewy. A main of pan-fried sea bass with white wine and caper butter on carrot ribbons fares slightly better but could do with a bit less butter and a bit more wine. For dessert, strawberry cheesecake is served with aerosol spray cream while the selection of cheeses includes Edam and cheddar. On a more positive note, service is friendly and welcoming, but greater attention needs to be paid in the kitchen and to the quality of produce, which is particularly disappointing given the profusion of excellent food suppliers in the area.

Blueglass has recently been through some changes and is now serving British Classics, alongside a daily changing specials board providing “good food for all the family”. Blueglass is ideally situated on the corner of bustling Morningside Road and Churchill Place.
It is the perfect venue for lunch, dinner or just a quick coffee or a drink. Café by day and bistro by night, Blueglass offers an intimate and relaxed setting where you can enjoy unfussy food prepared with the freshest of produce.
Our café menu offers a range of dishes such as hot filled rolls served until 12 noon, fresh sandwiches, soups, freshly-fired pizzas and delicious salads from 12 noon to 6pm.
Our evening bistro menu is served from 6pm onwards and is changed every 2 weeks to make the most of seasonal ingredients. We have a carefully selected wine list that complements the menu. On a Sunday we have a family friendly menu that includes a Sunday Roast dish with all the trimmings and children can choose from our café menu.
Blueglass is open 7 days a week from 10 am. Our facilities include highchairs, baby changing, smaller portions for children and is suitable for wheelchair users
