Away from the city centre on busy Easter Road, Rivage is worth seeking out. Light and airy inside, the tandoori kitchen is open plan so all can see owner and head chef Ryad Meeajane cooking the food from scratch. The menu is relatively short, only two sides of a single sheet, but that doesn’t mean there’s lack of choice as here you’ll find dishes that don’t appear in the average curry house. Aloo tikka is a patty of fresh peas with a hint of ginger, while lamb ka samosa is well seasoned meat wrapped in crispy, light Indian pastry and deep fried. Murgh butter masala is chicken in a heavenly fragrant almond and butter sauce, and Goan fish curry of monkfish and garlic, with a hint of coconut and red chilli, packs a real punch. Made from locally sourced ingredients, the food is wonderfully fresh. Service is friendly and on the ball, and there’s a good choice of wine with many by the glass. Such enthusiasm for good food and commitment to quality make Rivage a hard act to beat.
- High point: Interesting and unusual curries
- Low point: Off the beaten track

I think Rivage is a great asset to Easter Rd . The food is excellent and unusual , the staff friendly and the prices very reasonable. I have two gripes, however. One is that the background music is too loud. Admittedly the staff will turn it down on request, but am I alone in finding loud musak irritating when I am trying to have a conversation with friends? Secondly, although it displays a notice claiming that it is open for lunch, I have gone twice with friends to find the place shut up. Not a very good advertisement!

We ate at the Rivage last night on the strength of the review in the List and we were not disappointed. Amazing value for money, run by a husband and wife team who take service and the quality of the cooking very seriously. So pleased this is on my doorstep. We'll be back.

I have eaten in and taken away and i have to say that the food is lovely and lives up to as billed. however, i do have a problem with the very informal way the staff deal with me each time i have gone in.
i always get a feeling they just cannot cope with customers. i have phoned on orders and asked to call back in five minutes. just dropped in and told they are too busy at the moment and to come back after forty mins.
they just cannot cope when they are busy and turn people away. i only go back as i am local. however, a new take away has opened up around the corner and if i start to be turned away too often i will start going there instead.

How is this place in the Hitlist?! So disappointing Im sad to say. Im willing to give it another go, incase I went on a bad night. Was with a group on this occasion, and it took over an hour to even get our orders taken! The fried bread was awful! I mean, white bread in batter?! What on earth?! The curry once it FINALLY arrived was also sadly awful. A sweet sugary flourescent mess instead of the delicious spicy sauce I was anticipating.

What can I say ? I'm a Rivage addict. A menu unlike any other Indian - wide ranging with none of the usual madras/pathia/vindaloo etc sections. Food & flavours that simply make love to my taste buds (the tandoori tiger prawn & the rack of lamb are my particular faves). Generous portions at extremely reasonable prices - I never leave hungry (unfortunately I never have room for dessert). The decor is pleasant and the staff/mgt are always freindly & extremely accomodating. I've taken several friends & relatives there over the years and they have all become converts. I feel blessed to have this place on my doorstep.

We eat at Rivage regularly, and have done since it opened. The food is brilliant - not your run of the mill Indian Restaurant but an Indian Restaurant with a difference. The menu is excellent with a good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Dishes available for all tastes and nothing is too much trouble for the helpful, friendly staff.
The Rivage has definately become a firm favorite with us and we would recommend it to everyone.

I have been to the Rivage twice and both times I've been really impressed with the unusual dishes and friendly service. The staff really are great and most attentive. There are lots of lovely touches such as linen nakins which is rare in such a reasonably priced restaurant. I would highly recommend the Rivage.
