This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
New owner Scott Johnston isn’t out to change Café Pop, he just wants to build on what they do well. The mirror-glass face of Twiggy still gazes out from behind the counter and pop art murals adorn the walls while electro-funk bubbles in the background. The menu takes in a selection of breakfast rolls, lunchtime baguettes, bagels and paninis, soup, wraps and salads, along with more substantial meals such as the chilli bowl or falafels. The home-made spicy lentil soup is just hot enough to be warm and hearty, while a roast beef baguette is lifted by the creamy tang of horseradish mayonnaise and crisp rocket leaves. Sandwiches are made to order with ingredients from reputable local suppliers. Cakes are still the stars of the show here, the afternoon tea deal offering a huge wedge of home-made chocolate fudge cake, or a tempting cupcake, and a tea or coffee for £3.
- High point: Funky, relaxed, tasty food
- Low point: Huge tables limit available seats

Café PopReport -
Love Cafe Pop. The food is fantastic, especially the Dahl which should be guzzled down by anyone who frequents the place.
The cafe was in a period of transition when this review was written and is now under new management (which I ensure you I am neither part of nor related too!!).
The menu is better, the quality of the food has improved no end, and it remains exceptional value for money.
Don't take my word for it, the food speaks for itself.
