This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
Mother India’s Wee Curry Shop chain now comprises three branches – two in the West End and a City Centre venue. The Byres Road restaurant is just as wee as the name suggests, but none the worse for it – offering a sense of intimacy often absent from big party-oriented curry houses . If you’re lucky enough to be seated with a view of the open kitchen then you’ll even have the enjoyment of watching the accomplished chefs prepare your meal. The aubergine fritters and mushrooms starter arrives as a hearty appetizer, set off by a beautifully spiced chilli dip. The green herb vegetable pakora offers a refreshing twist on the norm and is complemented nicely by the sweetness of the beetroot in the accompanying salad. Daily specials are available, with a fish of the day served with spiced lentils and greens always on the menu – they work wonderfully with a melt-in-the-mouth piece of haddock. Those who fancy tasting a selection of the restaurant’s top-quality dishes can opt for the lunchtime thali or ‘wee tasters’ options.
- High point: Watching your food being deftly prepared
- Low point: Small size makes booking advisable

2011 review! Well it's only taken 2 years since the last review for this place to go to the dogs! Utterly vile poori, terrible service, terrible atmosphere, over salted dahl, flavourless haddock with mustard seeds! Shockingly bad!

I love little intimate places like this. Having first enjoyed the sister restaurant on Ashton lane we stumbled upon this place one night and decided to give it a shot. Love the food and the staff are great and very friendly My new Favorite Indian.

The food here is amazing and the staff friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is the perfect place to enjoy probably the most stunning traditional indian food ever.
A big thanks to the manager and his staff!
