This review is taken from the current (2012) edition.
On entering Tex Mex II first impressions are of a colourful and compact space and it may take a moment before you can drag your eyes away from the slightly mesmerising pink, purple and lime colour-scheme to look at the menu. A frozen margarita and some complimentary spicy popcorn help soothe the senses while you settle in and it’s fun to watch the staff expertly weaving between tables bearing fajita platters alight with a theatrical flourish of flaming tequila. For appetisers, heat seekers will be drawn to the spicy, crispy battered chillies stuffed with cheese; more unusual choices include crab flautas or a ceviche of marinated fish. Main courses take in a range of tortilla based dishes along with burgers, steak or tuna tex-mex style. Pork chimichanga comes properly crispy on the outside, filled with tender pork and slathered in cheese, salsa and guacamole. Burrito filled with pork and beef in a mild chilli sauce has a satisfying depth of flavour. For afters, a dark Mexican torta (think chocolate fudge cake) or zesty key lime pie rounds a meal off nicely.
- High point: Lively atmosphere and well-priced frozen margaritas
- Low point: Some tables very close together

It's a great place!
Staff is very friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is cosy and warm and the food....
Every time I go there, I promise myself to come out without my belly exploding; however, every time I end up ordering chimichangas carnitas as the taste is simply divine, can't get enough of it... and let's not forget pitchers of Margaritas!!!!
There are not enough words to praise this wee restaurant. Simply go there, and check it out yourselves!

Lovely wee gem near The Stand - beautifully decorated. Staff laid back yes, but very attentive, friendly and helpful - brought us extra plates for us to share our mains. Veggie enchiladas yummy, platillos verde superbly cheesy, salads fresh and tasty, chilli rellenos fabulous, frozen maragritas great (buy a 1/2 litre - got 4 glasses from the jug), pecan pie and dark chocolate torte amazing! Drinks lovely - now love tequila rose liqueur and mescal and coffee were nice! All for under £50.
Would definitely go back and will recommend to friends.
One tip - on a Friday and during the Fringe, book ahead - we did and got a table no problem.

Hah, the above comment is brilliant!
I felt the need to stick up for Tex Mex, have been a few times now (thanks to my Mexican-loving friends) and have always found the food to be consistently tasty and the margaritas are amazing!
The only thing I don't like is the paprika (is that right?) popcorn they give you at the beginning - yuck! But I guess it's free so I can't complain. (also my boyfriend loves it, what a weirdo).
It's such a cute little restaurant, would definitely recommend it.

I would like to review this restaurant review. I don't feel that it gave me a very good idea of what sort of taste experience to expect at Tex Mex II. So there were fajitas, were there? That's like remarking that there were burgers at burger king. What I'd like to know is what makes this Tex Mex restaurant stand out. What makes it worth reviewing? What makes it worth my while to visit? The margaritas, I gather, were a highlight, but as we're reviewing a restaurant here, rather than a cocktail bar, I want to know a bit more about the food.
How did the tastes enliven the taste-buds?
What were the tempting alternatives?

Very intrusive seating; got plonked next two another to couples on each side and could hear everything they were saying. Food wise would have been better doing it myself at home. The 'best' margheritas came out of a slush machine and were very weak. The waiter was very laid back, forgot our orders and spent most of his shift chatting in the kitchen. The highlight was getting some jellybeans as we left. Will never go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Used to eat at TexMex "1" many moons ago as part of a large group and most times, it was alright. The same cannot be said for TexMex2. We wish we'd stayed in the Kingdom with a packet of Dorritos and an Old El Paso fajita kit, that way, we'd have had exactly the same meal but with better surroundings and not felt ripped off at the end of the night. Will definitely NOT be back!!

A very nice place, but one of the worst Fajitas i have ever seen, the tequila flame was a nice touch but it was lacking in veg and the meat was burnt. other dishes were overcooked and under flavored. After all the good things i heard about Tex Mex i am dissapointed. The service was very good
