The interior may be a bit ramshackle, and the vibe, laid-back, but service is friendly and efficient. Along with the large menu comes a dish of delicious home salted almonds which set the taste buds going in anticipation of the tapas to follow. Mussels with chorizo are full of flavour, the paprika and mussel combination in this special, a total success. Paprika is less in evidence, although promised, in the batter wrapped round the deep fried langoustines, but the prawns are fresh. Flash-fried strips of beef, are a little overcooked but saved by the lovely, sweet caramelised red onions, chilli and garlic accompanying them. The large Spanish butter bean stew in a light tomato sauce is delicious. As you’d expect with a large selection, some of the dishes are more successful than others but this is a great place to linger over a plate or two with a glass of the lovely chilled house red – or with a coffee and complementary fudge.
- High point: A great value laid-back local tapas restaurant
- Low point: Space is at a premium

Tinto Tapas Bar
The following information has been provided by the restaurant.
The Tinto Tapas Bar is run by Proprietor Gordon Craig along with his staff of young (but experienced) waiters.
It is the only authentic Spanish Tapas Bar in the area with a seating capacity of 50. It offers an extensive range of dishes which when accompanied with a glass or better still a bottle of wine, of which they also offer a good selection, makes for a really enjoyable meal. It has been visited over the past few months by Joanna Bythman of the Sunday Herald, Alan Brown, Sunday Times and Ron McKenna, Saturday Herald all of whom gave it a an excellent review saying it was lively, authentic and well worth a visit.
It is ideally situated on the Battlefield Road, Shawlands with the bus route outside the door and Langside Station within walking distance. As it is close to Hampden Park it is ideal for a pre Concert/Match meal. It becomes very busy when a venue is on and it is advisable to book to save disappointment.
The LIST Card is a dining scheme that gives you promotional two-for-one offers at a range of restaurants in Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond. Find out more.

We called to book a table at Tinto in August but were told they have stopped participating in the List Card promotion. I have let the List know via email but Tinto still appears on the List Card site. We went along anyway and it's a nice wee place - just don't expect to use your card though.

I went to Tinto Tapas due to a friend recommending it (having not been there for over a year) and i have never received such bad service before.
When we arrived we arrived at the same time as a table of 16 but were seated and ready to order within 5 minutes, having sat and waited for 20 minutes for someone to take our order, after asking a number of times, they took the table of 16 first then told us our 6 dishes will be a long wait.
We waited 55 minutes to receive poor food and no apology for our wait.
After asking for the bill we then waited another 15 minutes before getting it where it was passed over the heads of other diners, we had to approach the desk after no staff member came to collect our money due to them being to involved in their own conversations.
I will NEVER go back to Tinto Tapas and i would not recommend it to anyone, the service was awful and the food wasnt anything special.

I know I'm coming into all this a little late but I think Tinto is fab the prices are reasonable, the food delish and staff very accommodating. I am lucky enough that my college is just over the road so that also helps. As far as I'm aware the Tinto chain is expanding to include a restaurant in the shopping centre in East Kilbride which will cause a stir with restaurants such as Berits and Brown (who also serve amazing tapas) and Cafe Zucca as rivals only feet from each other. I am so happy that good food has finally made it's way to EK!

Food is tasty, service is apalling.
I would definately not recommend a visit to this place... unless you enjoy having to deal with confrontational, rude and unproffessional staff.

I have left a comment here before but would like to ammend:
Visited the restaurant today for lunch and will never be back. Food was enjoyable, as usual. However, staff were extremely rude - the 'manageress' even raised her voice to me over a wrong order of patatas bravas. She argued with us over this simple mistake, which could have been resolved so easily. Needless to say no tip was left.
I am so disappointed. It was one of my favourite places to go.

Went to Tinto after it was recommended but I won't be going back. The inside was like a crayon drawing of a Spanish holiday resort, but I really don't want to rant as the food was good. I could have learnt Spanish in the time between each course because of the single waiter serving every table in the place, who did not seem to acknowledge the existence of the customers.

I visited this restaurant today for the first time and having read excellent reviews on the list was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately I was left very disappointed. The pictures of the restaurant suggested a cosy authentic feel, unfortunately "tacky" and cold are the only words that could describe the interior. The food itself was fairly priced, but portions were small and served on chipped plates. The cheese board we ordered was particularly underwhelming. My number one complaint however has to be the service, the wait between ordering various courses and accompaniments was in truth, far too long. In addition our waiter was not in the least welcoming or friendly, he hardly said two words to us and was so rushed that when we wished to order dessert our menus were practically thrown at us without even registering our presence. Needless to say we didn't tip and although we had enjoyed the food, we all made a definite decison never to eat there again.

Move over, La Tasca!......
I was slightly sceptical of a tapas bar in Battlefield, but I was soon converted -
I have visited Tinto on around 6 occasions til now, and I can honestly say that every time I've been, I have experienced a perfect meal. Having spent 5 years in various parts of Spain, I would say that the food at Tinto is authentic, well cooked and presented and reasonably priced.
The service is attentive without being over the top, and friendly staff ensure the meal flows perfectly.
If you are considering having a meal here, my advice is simple - book a table and GO GO GO!!

I love this restaurant! I found it the best all round dining experience I have had in Glasgow for a while. The food is great, wines are fab and the service even better! No where else have I been that the owner remembers you by name, and which of his wines you like!
And to top it off, they make the best tablet, great when served with a good coffee and a glass of the fablous antique px!

My husband and I have visited Tinto on numerous occasions since it opened and have loved every mouthful we've eaten there!
The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I can honestly say that it is the best place to eat on the South Side. We are going there for our wedding anniversary tomorrow - can't wait!

When this restaurant first opened I visited 2 or 3 times in the first few weeks - it was very hit and miss.
About 18 months ago I tried again and just found the food extremely bland and fairly pricey.
Last week I decided to give it another go. After all, the place is often busy so people must like it?
Firstly, I should say that the staff here have always been very attentive without being intrusive. My waitress was polite, friendly and courteous throughout the evening. There are many other restaurants in Glasgow who would benefit from the female in question teaching their staff how to behave.
However, the food... unfortunately, it really is not good enough. I had a salt-cod special, and it was good. However, the spanish sausage and the chicken breast stuffed with chorizo were very very ordinary. The salmon was particularly unpleasant, burnt and without taste.
The location for this restaurant is very good and, as mentioned above, the staff are excellent; but that isn't enough is it?
The quality of food is simply not good enough.

This is a great neighbourhood restaurant with friendly staff and a good, varied menu. As well as the tapas the paella is lovely, and great value. There are nice touches with the meal, such as salted almonds when you sit down and tablet with the the bill (and they finally take cards for payment!). It can feel a bit cramped, but this is forgivable thanks to the relaxed atmosphere.
