Leith is heavily populated with Chinese and, increasingly, Thai takeaways, but Simply Thai and its sister restaurant the Silver Bowl are among the best. There's no scrimping on the portions, which are generously meaty with good, fresh vegetables. The set menus are not great value and don't offer a good range of options, so you'd be better off building your own Thai feast. Goong hom pa – king prawns in pastry – is a particularly yummy starter, as is the mixed starter set, which includes spicy spring rolls and a chicken satay. There's a huge choice of mains on offer, but the red and green curries with the meat of your choice are particularly successful, with plenty of bamboo shoots and crunchy vegetables in the familiar creamy coconut milk sauces.
