This bolthole of a shop opened just off Pollokshaws Road (near Eglinton Toll) in autumn 2006. Located in a less fashionable but rapidly developing district, this deli should be well-positioned to cater to new residents moving into modern flats popping up all-around. Indeed, a couple of estate agents already give SmoothBoy's hampers as house-warming gifts. In addition to a few rather predictable sandwich/wrap fillings (tuna salad or coronation chicken), SmoothBoy's makes some that are out-of-the-ordinary, such as a sweet chilli chicken panini. A chunky vegetable soup has a home-made taste with no hint of packaged, salty seasonings. In the summer, expect couscous and other fresh salads. And take a look at the dry goods: SmoothBoy's Deli goes out of its way to find fair trade and organic products, such as biscuits from Mull's Island Bakery Organics.
