The Rascasse, a funky style bar in the Southside suburb of Clarkston, takes its name from a hairpin turn on Monte Carlo's famous Grand Prix circuit. The restaurant here, Bentley's, is a more sedate affair - think limo, not hot-rod - compared with the bar's clubby feel. But the dining room is only really separated by a curtain from the dance floor. So while chairs are comfy and the lighting hypnotic, there is no escape from the bar's 80s dance tunes. The menu has mostly French and Scottish influences. A soup of the day promises something more exotic, but our Thai lentil offers few aromatic spices. A seafood main course described as a 'tapas plate' is an assortment of smoked salmon and prawns, dominated by a bowl of moules marinière. The venison is gamey if arguably not balanced by some clove-infused red cabbage. Among the desserts, the chef's creamy, light-textured cheesecake deserves pole position. A well-trained crew of serving staff chauffeurs things along very smoothly.
