Set up in 2006 by a windsurf instructor and a farmer tired of having to trek over to the Merchant City for café culture, Tibo caters for the up-and-coming denizens of Dennistoun. The founders are rather making it up as they go, but, with experienced and able staff, Tibo has found its feet as an all-purpose diner. In the daytime, mums and kids mix with business lunchers taking advantage of the free wi-fi, and in the evening there's a cosy bistro feel, with drinks continuing after the kitchen closes. Though by no means huge, it's a spacious and airy place, and the big windows are inviting to passers-by, if perhaps a little exposing for intimate moments. The menu continues to evolve, though it will stay firmly in the brasserie mould, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients from local sources. Alongside soups, salads and sandwiches, main meals such as moist, home-made Italian meatballs and uncommon vegetarian options such as the creamy vegetable and apple bake, should remain on offer. Baking is, they say, at the heart of Tibo's kitchen. And if you're very lucky, the specials will include oaty apple crumble doused in an orgasmic nutmeg-laced custard.
