The ageing architecture of this former bank building has been given a bright and modern lift by this busy, yet chilled-out, local bar and bistro, with its squishy brown leather sofas, huge red lampshades, bold black and white curtains and chunky wooden tables. An impressive picture window runs the length of the restaurant, letting in lots of light and affording diners a view of busy Clarkston Road. Friendly, attentive staff flit with ease between the casual buzz of the bar and the more formal restaurant area, serving varied dishes with a smile. An exhaustive something-for-everyone menu offers burgers, wraps, curries, pies, fresh fish, pizza and pasta dishes, with a specials board announcing yet more choices. One intriguing option involves juicy king prawns and crunchy fresh peppers being threaded on skewers and oven roasted, then served with a tangy, sweet chilli dip. Of the Italian choices, soft gnocchi are coated in a piquant tomato sauce rich in fruity olive oil and served with a hunk of butter-soaked garlic bread.
