Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Khushi's has dropped its 'Original' tag and moved from its previous Potterrow location to grander, more spacious premises on Victoria Street. A huge crystal chandelier dominates the imposing staircase, while the sharp and modern two-level interior gives the place an air of Bollywood glamour. The portions and style of the food are certainly extravagant, but include the usual range of Indian dishes and flavours that we are used to in this country. House special starters such as the lahori fish tikka and the lamp chop tikka make a feature of their lengthy marinade in yoghurt seasoned with cardamom and coriander, and are soft and succulent in their simplicity. The main courses are a comprehensive and varied selection of poultry, lamb, fish and vegetable dishes, all prepared with flair and a touch of class. Sauces tend to be decadently rich, with tomato and cream making regular appearances on the menu. For a truly diet-busting treat, the butter chicken is recommended, although one of the calorie-conscious fresh-pressed fruit drinks might make up for it (the mint and cucumber one is particularly recommended). Note that no alcohol is available (the owners are Muslim), but BYOB corkage is free.

a long time fan of Kushi's food and ambience I was disappointed to experience rudeness bordering on agression from the door staff on arrival recently. Food remains wonderful but overall experience spoiled.
