Situated on Nicolson Street, Palmyra is in a prime spot to corner the student market and, with a 10% discount for scholars, it has succeeded. The pizzas are slightly doughy and greasy, but toppings are generous. The Lebanese-owned outfit really comes into its own when it comes to its range of kebabs and shawermas. Wrapped in khobz bread, the chicken shawermas have attained a near legendry status among Edinburgh's young and hungry, and match the size of the pizzas without suffering from the same stodginess. There is the similarly excellent option of a falafel wrap for veggies and a solid range of side orders. The service is also among the most hospitable in Edinburgh, and plenty of seating means Palmyra is good for both food on the go and those with tired legs.
