This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
The food at Mzouda comes with an impeccable pedigree. Hailing from Morocco and trained in Barcelona, chef Hamid combines Spanish and North African influences with a sure hand. Add to this the warmth and hospitality of your host and you have the recipe for a very pleasant evening. The menu is concise – just five choices at each course – but manages to hit all the right notes. A starter of fish roulade encases soft, delicate white fish in a crisp filo roll set off with a light pepper sauce, while goat cheese and spinach are well met in briwat, a Moroccan take on the spring roll. Mains include the classic combination of chicken, preserved lemon and olives, and the triumvirate of garlic, chilli and parsley perking up fillet of sea bass, while those with a sweeter tooth may prefer lamb cooked with honey, raisins and almonds, served with icing-sugar-dusted rice. Desserts are less interesting, but the cinnamon-scented orange slices, heady with the perfume of orange flower water are a delight.
- High point: Sweet rice - who knew?
- Low point: Dull desserts

My husband and I have eaten here 6 or 7 times over the past year. We have been with several different groups of friends who have all loved it. The food has always been fantastic. The lamb tagine is delicious - tender and flavoursome. The fish is always cooked to perfection and the vegetarian dishes are so tasty that even die hard carnivores have been impressed. They are now doing TAPAS - way better than any other tapas we've eaten in the city.
The staff have always been friendly, welcoming and attentive - we have never had a cause for complaint.
I would highly recommend it for a relaxed, tasty and good value meal.

I thought it was only fair to provide a more up to date comment as this place seems to have improved considerably since the unfortunate experiences above. We made a very late booking having heard nothing of the restaurant but stumbled across the comments just before leaving the house and almost didn't go. Firstly, I should say that I am judging the restaurant whilst bearing in mind the prices which are very cheap. All in all, it's a cheap and cheerful place and far from luxurious, but the food was fresh and, for the most part, pretty decent. The kebab was a wee bit bland, but very well cooked but the lamb dish was great, as were the starters. Even the bread side order was a nice hot flatbread with coriander seeds.
3 courses, with drinks, less that £40. No complaints. Maybe changed waiting staff too as they were very friendly.

Awful. Food could only be described as mediocre at best. We had to send TWO dishes back as they were stone cold. The worst aspect however had to be the owner/manager who was rude, unpleasant and verging on aggressive. Quite how you run a business with customer service skills like that is beyond me. Will not be back.

Awful, awful, awful. The food looked and tasted like it was straight out of a microwave and was no better than a cheap supermarket ready meal approximation of either Moroccan or Spanish cuisine. The waiter was somewhat rude and our feedback to the manager was met with an angry defensiveness that completely ruined our evening. Highly NOT recommended. Yuk.
