With a friendly welcome from owner Abubakar Gaili it is difficult not to feel cheery within Khartoum's bright yellow walls. This may be why it is so hard to bag a seat at lunchtime, although the fact there are only five of them may also play a part. The bulk of the menu is made up of African flat breads with a choice of 21 different fillings, from falafel and baba ghanoush to tuna and cheese. In the unlikely event that any of these fail to entice you, you can mix your own combination from anything available and supplement that with soup, Sudanese coffee and perhaps some baklava. There is also an outside catering service, and Young Scot card holders can get 50% off the price of a chicken wrap.
